As you work through your training of becoming an Area Director, you’ll be working with various people. Spend some time reviewing the types of people you may interact with.

Leadership Support Team

Each community is connected to an executive team member or vice president (referred to as the Leadership Support Team, or LST). The LST oversees a Cohort of 5+ communities. Reach out to your LST to find out who is a part of your cohort and what your regular meeting schedule is like.

They also serves as a support for the Area Director and Local Area Board (LAB).  In addition to the LAB meetings, each LST member will schedule regular and frequent calls with each Area Director to touch base. 

Dan Davis

Dan Davis serves as the President of Mission Increase Foundation, where he is responsible for developing the ministry’s strategic vision, leading its expansion initiatives, engaging with key partners, and providing oversight for all operational aspects of the organization. Under Dan’s leadership, Mission Increase has doubled its geographic footprint to operations in more than 21 communities, and the number of active ministries supported has grown from 750 to over 2,500 across the globe.

Dan joined Mission Increase Foundation in 2003 as CFO before transitioning to his current role in 2012. Prior to that, Dan was Assistant Controller for Pamplin Communications Corporation where he provided oversight for the accounting, human resources and information technology staff for one of the largest privately-owned companies in Oregon. Dan also previously served as Vice President of Finance and Administration at Medical Teams International where he helped grow the organization from a $4 million annual Budget to over $100 million.

Dan graduated with a BA in Accounting from Seattle Pacific University where he met his wife. They have been married for over 30 years and have two children.

Randy Butler

Randy Butler, Senior VP of Field Operations, oversees operations at Mission Increase. Randy has been a longtime Champion, advocate, and prayer supporter of Mission Increase. For 10 years Randy was instrumental in training hundreds of pastors in Oaxaca, Mexico through MI’s work in the early 2000’s. He has been the pastor of Mission Increase co-founder, Ron Post for over 25 years.

Since giving his heart to Jesus on December 4, 1966, Randy has desired nothing more than to be a preacher. Randy received his license to preach from the Evangelical Church in 1980 and was ordained four years later.

In 1980, while attending George Fox College, he met and married Joan Hatfield. They have two children, Kristi, and Kevin.

Randy graduated from George Fox College in 1981 with a Bachelor of Arts in Religion. Randy received his Master of Divinity from Western Evangelical Seminary along with a certificate from the Evangelical Teacher Training Association with a Teachers Diploma in 1984. Randy completed his doctoral studies in 2007 with a Doctor of Ministry in Leadership and Spiritual Formation from George Fox Evangelical Seminary, receiving a distinguished dissertation award.

Scott Harris

Scott Harris serves as the Vice President of Church and Global Engagement at Mission Increase, helping ministries maintain and grow healthy relationships with local churches. In addition, Scott focuses on soul care, evangelism, and ways to take Mission Increase training beyond North America to the global church.

Prior to Mission Increase, Scott served for 18 years as Missions Minister at Brentwood Baptist Church in Tennessee. He worked with an incredible team in local, state, national, and international initiatives including church multiplication, missionary sending and partnerships with numerous non-profit ministries.

A native of San Jose, California, Scott spent part of his childhood as a missionary kid in Barbados. While a student a Golden Gate Seminary, he served as a youth pastor at a Korean church in San Francisco. He served also as a university pastor at Spurgeon’s College in the United Kingdom and in Hong Kong. Scott was an International Mission Board (SBC) Trustee since 2009 and also recently served as Chairman of the IMB. Scott lives in Brentwood with wife, Beth and two children, Elizabeth and Jonathan. Beth was raised in Taiwan, also by missionary parents. Scott celebrates the connection of churches with a passion of missions!

Scott Scharpen

Scott is the Chief Strategy Officer for Mission Increase, where he oversees the organization’s strategic plan and related initiatives, including opportunities for expansion into new areas, growth of funding sources, and innovation with our service delivery.

Prior to his work at Mission Increase, Scott served as president of The Scharpen Foundation, a Christian non-profit that he and his wife Carolyn founded in 2007.  While the Foundation has been involved in a variety of activities since its founding, the Foundation’s principle work has included a church plant (Rock Valley Christian Church, at which Scott still serves as a part-time volunteer pastor and board member) and the operation of a pro-life licensed mobile pregnancy clinic from 2013 to 2019.

Before Scott devoted time to The Scharpen Foundation, he enjoyed a successful Consulting career from 1991 to 2007 as a healthcare business executive and owner at Stockamp & Associates, helping its clients generate significant net revenue and process improvement.  Scott worked with some of the nation’s leading healthcare providers such as New York-Presbyterian, Northwestern Hospital, Stanford University, Loma Linda University, and Intermountain Healthcare.

In addition, Scott is on the board of directors at Alliance Defending Freedom (ADF), a legal advocacy organization dedicated to protecting religious liberty, free speech, life, marriage and the family, and parental rights. He also serves as chairman of ADF’s strategic development committee of the board.

Scott served 10 years as board chairman of ParentalRights.org, an organization dedicated to preserving the fundamental right of parents to protect the upbringing, care and education of their children.

He has a degree in economics from Stanford University. Scott and Carolyn have been married for over 30 years, live in Southern California, and have two adult children.

Caleb Crider is a trainer, writer, and missiologist. He’s married to Lindsey, and has two children: Jonas and Meredith.

Originally from California, Caleb has developed and facilitated training for an international audience of churches and missionaries. He specializes in instructional design, adult learning technologies, and outcomes-based education. He is one of the authors of Tradecraft: For The Church On Mission. The Criders live in the Cathedral Park neighborhood in Portland, Oregon.

Caleb serves as Senior Director of Training, Curriculum, and Program Innovation at Mission Increase.

Trent serves as the Senior Vice President of Field Operations for Mission Increase and manages the development of MI communities.  He works with local advisory Boards to recruit and hire MI Area Directors then oversees and supports the work of the Area Directors.  Trent brings over thirty years of experience working with nonprofits to his role including work in teaching, marketing, public relations, administration, and giver development.  He holds a BS degree in Pastoral Counseling from Eugene Bible College and a MA degree in Education from the University of Redlands. Trent and his family reside in Wilsonville, Oregon. Within the MI family he is the repository of all trivia, especially sports and music related.

Karla Roe has been with Mission Increase for fifteen years and currently serves as the Community Coordinator/Field Operations helping Area Directors around the country. She earned her BA in Social Work from Eastern Nazarene College in Boston, and her Master of Social Work degree from Catholic University in Washington, D.C. Prior to joining Mission Increase, Karla worked as a children’s and small group pastor, school office manager and social worker, and full-time mother.

Karla finds great joy in serving the non-profit community though Mission Increase and helping Christian ministries grow and more fully achieve their God-given missions. Karla and her husband Jonathan live in Anthem, Arizona, with their three children.
